Vicky Flores lived and worked in Discovery Bay on Hong Kong’s Lantau island for 12 years until around 7 April 2008. Her body was found in Tung Chung harbour on the far side of the island on 11 April. Limited media coverage and restricted police action have left Discovery Bay residents concerned that Vicky’s death will not be properly investigated.
This blog will publicise community activities in response to Vicky’s death, collect and collate any relevant information that should be considered in determining how and why she went missing, and help to put pressure on the Hong Kong authorities to act appropriately.
Please leave any comments that you think will be helpful. This time we can make a difference.

This is a letter I sent to the Editor, SCMP last week which has not yet been publsihed.
The case of the Vicenta Flores (SCMP 23/04/2008 ) is very distressing and it is important to try to seek the truth into what lead to her fleeing from her employer’s home, and subsequent death. Earlier reports had suggested no suspicious circumstances. She was running in fear, so obviously something, or someone had forced her to leave everything in that moment. She was in her nightware, so possibly sleeping and abruptly disturbed. Why did she have no shoes, money or other possessions Why did her employer hire a car almost immediately yet wait another 24 hrs, to inform the police of a missing person? If these are not suspicious circumstances, I do not understand how such a term is are defined in this case.
I read there were hidden camera’s in the house- what was their function? Are these not able to reveal anything untoward, leading up to this tragic event even if her diary/communication with the family did not bring anything to light? Vicenta - her name meaning ‘to conquer all’- is without a voice, but she deserves to have her side of the story told as to her plight, her fears, and to what really happened that night her life ended so abruptly and so tragically.

I’ve read in the SCMP today (Sunday 4th May), ‘Occult link to drowned maid’, Why can some details be release to the press whilst this case is still being under investigation? Mary Ann Benitez reported that a piece of paper was discovered containing latin phrases and police said it was ‘occult like’. It is highly misleading for the SCMP to publish under this heading’ How did this piece of yellow paper come to be in her possession? Did it have her finger prints on it? Or other peoples?
It also mentioned ‘another source’ - to suggest ‘weird messages, like mantras” saying text messages between Vicenta Flores and a ‘man’. But we are not told, who ‘he’ is - either the source or the ‘man’ Were these text sent via a computer or mobile phone? Can they not be traced and clarified.
We need much clearer reporting in this instance rather than emotive, unsubstantiated headlines, and statements out of context.
Many questions still need answering.

can’t forensic science give the answers to all the questions speculating regarding this matter and unlock the mystery of Vicky’s death?
I for one agree with Pamela Kember, why was she in her nightwear? For someone who plans to ran away, she should have brought her passport and some belongings?
Hope we would get the truth out of this…. so help us God!
